The Constitution of Meridion

Article I - Declarations
Section I: This document officially states the laws that govern the nation of Meridion.
Section II: All citizens of Meridion are required to obey these laws regardless of rank, stature, or any other condition.
Section III: The purpose of the Constitution is to protect and defend Meridion’s citizens, as well as its interests.
Section IV: The Constitution may only be amended through agreement of the Council, confirmed through a vote of majority.
Article II - Organisation
Section I: The nation of Meridion shall be divided into four main ranks. These ranks are to be arranged in a hierarchical way, with exceptions.
Section II: The leader of Meridion shall be the King. The king shall have the final say on all matters regarding Meridion’s internal and external affairs. In the event that the king adjudged to have violated the Constitution, the Council - with the exclusion of the king - shall convene and make a decision.
Section III: Different sections of Meridion’s internal affairs shall be divided into Guilds. These guilds shall be managed by the Guildmasters, who will have authority over the business of their respective guilds. Guildmasters shall be selected by agreement of the Council.
Section IV: Guildmasters may serve as members of other guilds; however, in order to maintain a balance of power, one may only serve as guildmaster of one guild at a time.
Section V: The guilds will consist of the: Adventurers Guild; Architectural Guild; Brewers Guild; Cultural Guild; Financial Guild; Industrial Guild; Magic Guild; Materials Guild.
Section VI:
a. The Adventurers Guild shall be responsible for the completion and recording of information regarding quests and dungeons.
b. The Architectural Guild shall be responsible for the development of new and existing townships - in cooperation with the king and governors of relevant towns - as well as for the building and renovation of buildings.
c. The Brewers Guild shall be responsible for the production of alcohol in the nation, and the development of new brews.
d. The Cultural Guild shall be responsible for Meridion’s culture, particularly regarding food, crops, events, art and lore. The Cultural Guild shall work closely with the Brewers Guild.
e. The Financial Guild shall be responsible for the maintaining of Meridion’s coffers and wealth. They shall also be responsible for trade deals and agreements with other nations.
f. The Industrial Guild shall be responsible for the production of metals, as well as the weapons and armour created using such.
g. The Magic Guild shall be responsible for the production of spells and wands for Meridion’s citizens, as well as the development and research into new spells.
h. The Materials Guild shall be responsible for the collecting and gathering of resources, including wood, ores, and anything else that is related and does not pertain to any of the other guilds. The Materials Guild shall work closely with the Industrial Guild.
Section VII: The Council shall consist of the King and the Guildmasters. The Council shall convene in order to discuss major decisions affecting the entire nation.
Section VIII: Each of Meridion’s towns shall have its own governor. These governors will have relative authority in their towns, and will be given a general amount of autonomy. Governors shall be appointed by the king.
Section IX: New recruits of Meridion shall be named citizens and will be allowed to take up residence in a Meridion city of their choice. As Meridioners, they shall have every right and responsibility named in this constitution.
Section X: Upon distinguishing themselves or proving themselves trustworthy, citizens shall be promoted to nobles. Nobles shall carry some level of authority in the nation, as well as added responsibility. In addition, only nobles may volunteer to be a guildmaster or be appointed to a position of authority.
Article III - Rights of Meridioners
Section I: All citizens have a right to trial by jury, with Council members acting as Judges.
Section II: All Meridioners shall have the right to be treated in a fair, just manner, regardless of rank, order, gender, religion, age, race, or any other factor.
Section III: All Meridioners shall have the right to their own personal wealth, which may be used by them in whatever way they wish, so long as these uses do not break laws or go against the interests of Meridion as an entity.
Section IV: All Meridioners shall have the right of free speech and expression. All Meridioners shall be allowed to say what they want on any subject. Meridioners must respect the rights of free speech and expression in regards to other Meridioners.
Section V: All Meridioners shall have basic human rights, including those not outlined in this document.
Section VI: All Meridioners shall have a responsibility toward the nation. These responsibilities include: defending the interests of Meridion; contributing toward the productivity and advancement of the nation; making a reasonable effort to complete tasks set by their direct superiors, so long as they are sensible.
