I always feel like I'm out of inventory space and I don't think I'm alone. It would be really cool to be able to have backpack or extra storage slots in your inventory. This would allow: players to take less trips when selling large quantities of items like crops, miners to harvest more ores per mining trip, players doing quests to pack more with them so they can quest longer, etc..  I think that these extra storage systems should have a few second opening time as if the player was taking it off their back. If a player was to be killed while wearing the backpack, it would drop and not spill it's contents. while a cool concept, I know it probably has its kinks that need to worked out. If Elders have questions about specifics, feel free to DM me. I think this is a great idea and hope it will help all atlas players.

If only one backpack can be carried at a time, this sounds balanced. Maybe some de buff while in inventory and not armor slot.

Yeah, I think it would give the person a speed debuff like we see with heavy iron when carried in inventory. It might also give a debuff in speed when wearing it, but the debuff would be weaker

I can recall a long time ago this idea, almost exactly as you guys discuss it here, was mentioned within dev meetings.

My response then is essentially what it is now, which is that backpacks would most likely make the gameplay experience more compelling. 

However, I don't see how making them have a weight factor that slows one more fun... it would most likely make it so people would use them less.


And if its a disincentive to a feature that would otherwise make the game better, why have the disincentive?

Regardless backpacks is a good idea in my opinion either way.
